Aldila vs. Fujikura Shafts

Aldila and Fujikura are two of the most well-known and trusted brands for golf shaft manufacturing, and both companies make extremely high-quality shafts. Therefore, it can be difficult to determine which one to choose between the two brands.

Aldila and Fujikura both make high-quality golf shafts with long-lasting materials and thoughtful designs. However, Aldila is typically better for beginner golfers, whereas Fujikura is better for advanced golfers.

In this article, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about Aldila and Fujikura golf shafts so you can make an educated choice between them. Let’s get started!

Are Aldila and Fujikura Shafts the Same?

To give you an idea of the differences between the two brands, the following table outlines some specifications for their most popular shaft styles. For this purpose, I’ll be discussing the Aldila NVS 55 Shaft and the Fujikura Vista Pro 60 Driver Shaft:

Feature Aldila NVS 55 ShaftFujikura Vista Pro 60
Weight 56-57 grams (1.97-2.01 oz)65 grams (2.29 oz)
Length 46 inches (117 cm)46 inches (117 cm)
Torque 4.4 4.5
Tip Diameter.355 inches (0.9 cm).335 inches (0.85 cm)
Tip Length 3 inches (7.62 cm)2.5 inches (6.35 cm)

These two shaft designs are extremely similar, but they do differ in some significant ways. The Fujikura option is heavier, has slightly higher torque, has a shorter tip, and is stiffer overall. However, it is important to keep in mind that these specifications are for the most popular shaft designs only. There are also different shaft types that may have specifications more suited to you as a golfer.

Aldila and Fujikura Shafts: Which Is Better?

When discussing design and materials, both Aldila and Fujikura offer some of the best golf shafts available on the market. Therefore, if your golf shaft choice is based on quality, you have nothing to worry about and you’ll be happy either way.

However, the brands differ slightly regarding expertise and experience. Aldila has more available flexes and weights than Fujikura, so you’re more likely to find a good fit for a variety of player types.

For that reason, I typically recommend Aldila for beginners and senior golfers and players who are looking to boost their distance. Aldila shafts tend to be more flexible than average, which helps you get the distance you desire, without losing stability.

Fujikura also has many options that can fit the needs of a variety of golfers, but their best shafts are for more advanced golfers. In fact, Fujikura is a popular option amongst professional golfers, including Sergio Garcia and Rory McIlroy

Most Fujikura shafts are heavier and stiffer than comparable Aldila models, so more experienced players with high swing speeds and launch rates are more likely to experience success with Fujikura shafts. Thanks to the excellent stability that these shafts provide, golfers won’t lose accuracy, either.

Conclusion

Aldila and Fujikura are high-quality golf brands that make some of the best shafts on the market, so you can’t go wrong either way. However, beginners and golfers with slower swings may experience more success with Aldila shafts than Fujikura, whereas more experienced golfers may prefer the stiffness and weight of Fujikura shafts.
