The Scotty Cameron Matador and the Super Stroke Traxion grips are among some of the more well known golf accessories. They are comparable for a number of reasons, including size and weight. However, what other differences are there between these grips?
To figure this out, I dug into the specs for each club and compared the two to see what the differences are as well as which one may be better for you.

Options: Matador vs Superstroke
One of the main differences between these two lines of grips is the amount of options they offer. To begin, Scotty Cameron Matador grips come in 3 different sizes. These sizes are small, medium, and large.
Superstroke comes in 4 different sizes which they call, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0. Both lines offer a variety of options, but Superstroke has one more to pick from. This just shows that Superstroke has a bit more product variety when it comes to their Superstroke line of grips.
If you are someone who enjoys product variety, then the Superstroke may suit your needs a bit better than the Matador line of grips.
Diameter: Matador vs Superstroke
The range of diameter between these two grips is quite astounding. Right off the bat, it is clear that while Superstroke offers more options, the Matador line of grips offers the widest grip of them all. If you are someone who is looking for a much wider grip, then the Matador line of grips is likely the best to go with.
However, even though Matador offers the widest grip, Superstroke does offer one “in between” option that may be better for you. The Matador grip diameter jumps up from 1.10” to 1/60”, which means there is a large gap in between the two. If you are someone who wants to purchase a grip with a diameter between 1.0” and 1.60”, then the Superstroke grip is likely better for you.
Length: Matador vs Superstroke
In terms of length, both grips have completely different options. For Matador, they offer a 10.25” and 11.00” grip length. Superstroke only offers a 10.50” grip length. Depending on what your preferences are, either of these options may suit you. However, you do have a bit more flexibility in options with Matador.
With Matador, you kind of get the best of both worlds in that you can choose a grip length that is on the longer or shorter end of the spectrum in this comparison.
Weight: Matador vs Superstroke
Weight is arguably the biggest difference between these two grips. Matador offers 77, 86 and 68 grams for their grips. Superstroke offers 71, 55, 66, and 90 gram options. This means that Superstroke offers grips that are very similar to Matador, but they also offer a grip that is significantly heavier than the heaviest Matador option.
This heavier option is great in helping players solidify their swing. The heavy grip essentially acts as a counter weight and allows players to get a bit more speed in their swing.

While you may be interested in how these grips may help your game, it is also important to know whether or not these grips are legal. I looked into the golf equipment rules, which are provided by the USGA and R&A, to see whether or not these golf grips are legal.
