Are Vice Golf Balls Legal?

Vice golf balls are some of the most common on the course, especially for casual players. They are affordable and perform very well. However, some golfers think that these golf balls are illegal. So, I decided to get to the bottom of it.

By researching the rules of golf, provided by the USGA and R&A, I was able to figure out whether or not Vice golf balls are actually legal.

Are Vice Golf Balls Legal? According to the USGA and R&A, Vice golf balls are legal to use in any casual, high-level amatuer, or professional golf outings. Vice golf balls conform to the equipment rules, which means they are USGA approved, thus making them totally legal.

For reference, the USGA and R&A are considered governing bodies of the golfing world. Any piece of equipment that they deem as legal should be accepted by all other golfing groups and organizations.

How To Know If Vice Golf Balls Are Legal

The way that I found out that Vice golf balls are legal was by using the R&A club database. This database stores the information for all USGA approved golf equipment (excluding putters). By searching for “vice” in the database, I was able to see that there are 10 different versions of the Vice golf ball that are legal to use.

As you can see from the photo above, I searched for “vice” under the category “conforming golf balls”. The screenshot doesn’t include all of the legal versions of the ball. So, now that you know that Vice golf balls are legal, you can throw them into your bag without having to worry about getting called out for them.
