Does LPGA Play From Ladies Tees?

If you have ever watched the LPGA, you may have wondered how far they tee off from. More specifically, you may have wondered if they use the traditional ladies tees.

So, to figure out whether or not LPGA players use ladies tees, I decided to do some research and reach out to some professionals.

Does LPGA play from ladies tees? The LPGA players do not play from the ladies tees when on tour. The LPGA makes their own tee off areas for each tournament, which average a total of 6200 – 6600 yards. The overall yardage on traditional ladies tees is 4600 yards.

What this means is that LPGA players hit from much farther back than the ladies tees, which is why LPGA players have a substantially larger total yardage.

What Tees Do LPGA Players Use?

If you have ever watched an LPGA match, you might have wondered what tee box the LPGA players use. Now that we know that they don’t use the regular ladies tees, it makes you wonder where they actually hit from.

What Tee Box Does The LPGA Use?

According to the LPGA, they create their own tee box for each tournament depending on where they are playing. So there is no set tee area that they consistently use. In other words, the LPGA tees off from a custom tee box.

As mentioned above, the average total yardage that LPGA players play is between 6200 and 6600 yards.

LPGA vs PGA Tee Off Distance

With the average LPGA total yardage ranging from 6200 – 6600 yards, and the total PGA distance averages around 7200 yards there is a difference of 600 to 1000 yards. If we do the math, that means that the PGA tee box is anywhere from 33 yards to 55 yards further back than the LPGA tee box.

Final Thoughts: Do LPGA Players Hit From The Ladies Tees?

So, next time you’re watching the LPGA, you will know that they are hitting for much further distances than the ladies tees. This will likely make watching these tournaments even more impressive as they are hitting the ball significantly further out of the Tee Box than what you may have previously anticipated.
