Gravity Grips vs. Superstroke

The Gravity Grip is one of the 4 types of putter grips designed and manufactured by Evnroll, and SuperStroke offers 10 styles with several variants. Gravity Grips aren’t identical or similar to the classic SuperStroke putter grips. So, you must assess the differences to pick the right one.

Gravity Grips are heavier and longer than every putter grip made by SuperStroke. Gravity Grips are counterweighted with a steel rod along the spine, which is not a feature in most SuperStroke putter grips, so it has a distinct design, shape, and an offset for the shaft.

SuperStroke has somewhat revolutionized the niche of putter grips over the years, and Evnroll is almost doing the same with its Gravity Grips. Both brands and their putter grips have a few pros and cons. Read on for a comprehensive assessment of Gravity Grips vs. SuperStroke.

The first difference you may notice is the overall shape of a Gravity Grip because it’s neither a pistol-type nor a parallel or squared design, which broadly covers all SuperStroke putter grips.

The Gravity Grip has two rounded sides. The spine is flat with an embedded steel rod inside. The other side is also flat for better gripping with your thumbs. The steel rod weighs 70 grams (2.47 oz), while the grip weighs only 35 grams (1.23 oz). The EVA foam wrap adds the rest of the total weight of 125 grams (4.4 oz), which is heavier than all classic and typical putter grips.

Plus, the Gravity Grip is almost 1 inch (2.54 cm) longer than SuperStroke putter grips, as it has to account for the shaft offset. The EVA foam wrapping facilitates a firm grip, almost like the Multi-Zone Texturing feature used by SuperStroke for all its contemporary putter grips.

The most important difference between Gravity Grips and most SuperStroke putter grips is the placement and weight of the steel rod. The aligned counterweight enables the Gravity Grip to keep a standard toe hang putter face straight for an optimum angle and stroke.

Even if a putter’s toe tilts a little inadvertently, the weight of the steel rod and your firm hold of the distinctly contoured EVA grip will revert the alignment so that you can feel the square zone through the impact of your stroke.

SuperStroke has a heavier-than-usual Zenergy SS2R Squared Putter Grip, weighing 107 grams (3.77 oz), but you must purchase the CounterCore weight separately. Besides, the Zenergy isn’t designed to feature the contours of a Gravity Grip, such as the flat spine and integrated rod.

On the flip side, many SuperStroke putter grips feature Tech-Port to use the brand’s patented CounterCore weight system, performance tracking sensors, and other game-improvement options. Evnroll’s Gravity Grips don’t have such features yet.

Conclusion

The Gravity Grip feels great, and the embedded steel rod’s weight keeps putter toes properly aligned, better than grips without any counterweight. Yet, the extra weight might hinder some players, especially those only familiar with lighter and shorter SuperStroke putter grips.
