Believe it or not, there are a number of golfers who wear both prescription glasses and sunglasses. Now that we know which golfers have worn glasses while golfing, let’s dive a bit more into how glasses can impact your golf game.
Can I Play Golf With Glasses?
According to the USGA, both sunglasses and prescription glasses are totally legal to wear in a game of golf. As long as the lenses do not give the golfer an unfair advantage, then they are totally legal. Below is the exact quote from the USGA’s equipment rules.
“No magnification of putting green information is allowed other than a player’s normal wearing of prescription glasses or lenses”
Because the USGA states that glasses are legal, this means that they are legal on all levels of golf (casual, high-level amateur, and professional). So, as long as there is no unfair advantage given from the glasses, they are totally legal to use in the game of golf.
Can Glasses Affect Golf Swing?
If you ask anyone with glasses if their glasses impact their daily lives, they will likely tell you that they forget they are even wearing them. This same kind of statement applies to golfers who wear glasses. For the most part, golfers forget that they are wearing glasses, which means that it doesn’t impact their game.
If anything, wearing glasses helps reduce sunlight, correct their depth prescription, blurry vision, etc. which will ultimately help their golf swing. No matter what kind of glasses you are wearing, whether they are progressive lenses, sunglasses, or prescription glasses, as long as they fit well, they should not impact your golf swing in any way.
Do Golfers Wear Contact Lenses?
Yes, there are a large number of golfers that wear contact lenses during their games. As mentioned above, many golfers decide not to wear their glasses because it impacts their game, so for those that need prescription glasses, they choose to wear contact lenses.
One of the more notable players that wears contact lenses is Patrick Reed. In fact, he credits his contact lenses for winning him the Masters.
While it is hard to tell which players are wearing contact lenses, there are plenty that do and clearly it helps out their golf game.
