Is The TaylorMade 360 Driver Illegal?

If you are interested in buying a TaylorMade 360 driver, or already have it and want to put it in your bag, you may have wondered whether or not it is illegal. Having been released in the early 2000s, a lot has changed in the golf world in terms of equipment regulations. So, many have wondered if the TaylorMade 360 Driver was now illegal.

To get to the bottom of this question, I took a look at the USGA and R&A conforming club information to find out whether or not the TaylorMade 360 driver was illegal or not.

Is The TaylorMade 360 Driver Illegal? According to the USGA and R&A conforming equipment information, the TaylorMade 360 XD and 360 Ti drivers are totally legal to use in all casual, amateur, high-level amateur, and professional golf rounds and tournaments. In other words, the TaylorMade 360 XD and Ti are not illegal to use in golf.

For reference, both the USGA and R&A are considered governing bodies of the professional golf world. Generally speaking, any equipment regulations that they come out with are considered law by all other golf organizations. In other words, their rules are followed by practically every other golf associated group.

R&A Equipment Database: TaylorMade 360 Driver

One of the resources that I used to see whether or not this driver was illegal was the R&A’s equipment database. This database allows anyone to see which clubs are considered ‘conforming’ to their equipment regulations.

As you can see from this screenshot, I typed in ‘taylormade 360’ and set the category filter to ‘conforming drivers’. This will show any versions of the Taylormade 360 that conform to the R&A’s rules.

As mentioned, there are 2 versions of the club that the R&A considers legal. The XD and Ti. What makes this database even more useful is that you can click ‘more detail’ by hovering over either one of these clubs and find out more information on their legality.

It will also allow you to see the various lofts, hosel designs, sole information that is considered legal with these drivers.

USGA Equipment List: TaylorMade 360 Driver

Another resource that I typically use to find out whether a not a club is illegal is the USGA Conforming Equipment list. This list provides very similar information to the R&A database, however it is in PDF format. This PDF list is a frequently updated resource that contains all legal golf clubs (aside from putters).

I did a quick search for TaylorMade 360 and found the same information. As you can see the TaylorMade 360 Ti is listed in this PDF. So, this doubles down on the fact that the 360 drivers are legal to use.

This PDF list also shows the other lofts and club information that pertain to each version of the club. So, for anyone who is interested in the more nitty gritty details of the legal aspects of a club, this too is a great resource.
