Titleist U505 vs. T200

Titleist improved its impressive lineup with the U505 and the T200. While these clubs are quite similar, they have a few specs that you should analyze before deciding which one is right for you.

The U505 has a soft matte finish and it is much bulkier with a higher launch. On the other hand, the T200 offers better forgiveness, playability, and portability (as it is a bit thinner). Most casual players prefer the T200 because it is easier to handle.

Throughout this post, I’ll cover all the differences you should know about the U505 and the T200 series. I’ll also help you find out which set you should go with.

U505 vs. T200: Similarities and Differences

Since both the Titleist U505 and T200 sets have been used on numerous pro circuits, you’ll want to know what makes them similar and different.

Without further ado, let’s dive into the comparison chart below.

As you can see, the T200 did a better job at carrying yards and overall distance. While it’s slightly slower in terms of ball speed and club speed, it does the main job: Getting as close to the green as possible.

However, let’s not overlook the 2-degree angle increase provided by the U505. Not only does this allow you to hit your ball uphill much easier, but it also helps players who want to reduce the distances between the carry yardage and the total yards. This can be useful if you’re afraid of landing in a sand pit.

Should You Choose the T200s or U505s?

You should choose the T200 if you want a club set that’s forgiving and improves your total yardage. On the other hand, you might want to get the U505 if you prefer a set that improves your launch angle and height. The U505 can offer excellent control for people with slower swings.

According to Bunkered, Titleist revamped the U505’s core to improve its structural integrity, durability, sound, and speed. In short, you’ll get a consistent hit with every swing.

Unfortunately for the U505, the T200 is all-around better for the average casual golfer. It’s easier to swing, and it sounds wonderful. Additionally, the T200 is much easier to notice which part of the ball you hit, allowing you to improve your swing.

Final Thoughts

Although these club sets are very alike, most players would be better off with the T200 club set. Not only is it easier to swing, but the undeniable forgiveness advantage lets you hit the ball at an impressive speed and spin rate without going off-course. I recommend trying both sets to see which one suits your playstyle.
