Recently, I have been researching smaller golf brands, and among these brands were AGX golf clubs and equipment. After having a brief look into their company, I realized there is a lot of information that isn’t posted about the company.
So, I decided to make a post talking about the company, who makes their clubs, who owns the company, where they make their clubs, and more.
Who makes AGX Golf Clubs? AGX golf clubs are made by the AGX brand, also known as the American Golf Exchange. They are an individual brand, meaning that they make and manufacture their own clubs under their name.
To find a bit more information, I searched for ‘American Golf Exchange’ on the Better Business Bureau’s website, and it surprisingly had a lot of good details on the company.
AGX golf was established as a business on 09/29/2008 with an official business location in Milford Michigan. What is even more interesting is that it appears as though their original brand name was “GolfBallX”, but was transitioned to AGX at some point in time.
Is AGX The Same As GolfBallX
I took a deeper look at the brand and it seems as though they may have been under another name, GolfBallX. I looked at their website archive and found a screenshot from September 2, 1999.
It appears as though the name American Golf Exchange was used on their website, so it is not exactly clear if they owned the AGX brand name in 1999 or in 2008. Below is a screenshot from AGX’s website from 1999.
Who Owns AGX Golf?
According to Linkedin, AGX is owned by Bob Proven. It appears as though he has been the owner of the company since its inception.
In fact, his actual title on his LinkedIn profile is “Owner”, so it wasn’t too difficult to figure out who has ownership of the company. Below is a screenshot I took of his profile and role at the company.
Does AGX Still Make Golf Clubs?
I called AGX’s customer service and asked them if they were still making clubs. According to the representative, they are still making golf clubs. In fact, not only are they still manufacturing their regular lines of clubs, but they still do have plans to release new equipment down the road.
Interestingly, many of the other smaller brands that I have looked at do not have any plans on releasing new clubs, which is why AGX’s plans to make new clubs is very interesting
Where Are AGX Golf Clubs Made?
During the same phone call I had with the customer service representative, I had asked where they make their golf clubs. He responded by saying that AGX manufactures and assembles their clubs in Milford, Michigan. This is the same location where their office and shop are located.
Typically, many brands have their manufacturing facilities in the same location as their offices. Not only does this make it easier to oversee the manufacturing process, but it also allows the AGX team to solve any manufacturing issues with their clubs in real time.
